Queen's Contest
Ever dreamed of becoming a queen? Here's your chance. The Rapides Parish Fair Queen's Contest will be held on Saturday, October 8, 2011 at the Sai Convention Center in Alexandria, Louisiana. The rules and regulations on entering the contest are listed below. After completing your registration form please mail to: Janice Derbonne, 300 Grady Britt Drive, Alexandria, Louisiana 71302.
WHO MAY COMPETE – Any female resident of Rapides Parish whose parents are also residents of the parish, between the ages of 16 and 20. Contestant musts be 16 on or before December 31, 2011, and shall not have reached her 21st birthday before December 31, 2011. A copy of birth certificate MUST be included with entry form. She must be single, must never have been married or divorced, and must remain single during year of reign.
JUDGING – Contestants entered in the Rapides Fair Association Queen Contest will be judged on interview and stage appearance. (This includes poise, personality, beauty and intelligence.) Additional points will be awarded based on the contestants' written summary of 4-H, FFA, and Fair Participation.
ACTIVITIES – Contestants will be expected to attend registration, private interview with panel of judges, stage rehearsal and the Pageant.
AWARDS – The Queen will receive a gift, a bouquet of roses, and a $500.00 scholarship to the learning institute of her choice, to be awarded at time of registration. FAILURE TO COMPLETE ALL DUTIES WILL RESULT IN LOSS OF SCHOLARSHIP. ConflIcts in schedule will be discussed with the Queen's committee in advance and exceptions may be permitted.
DUTIES OF RAPIDES FAIR ASSOCIATION QUEEN – The Queen will represent the Rapides Fair Association at the Parish Fair and other events as requested by the Association. The Queen will reign until her successor is crowned. The Queen will participate in Association activities as requested by this organization. The Queen, possibly, will represent Rapides Fair Association at the Louisiana Fairs and Festivals convention at the expense of the Rapides Fair Association.
RULES and REGULATIONS – Each contestant must file an official Entry Form with the Queen Committee before September 30, 2011. Each contestant must register and attend the interview session on Saturday, October 8, 2011, in street dress, such as a business suit or dress. Each contestant must attend the stage rehearsal and pageant on Saturday night in formal gown. The Queen MUST participate in next year's pageant.
ENTRY BLANKS – This year the number of contestants must be limited to 25. All entry forms must be returned before deadline. ABSOLUTELY NO ENTRIES WILL BE ACCEPTED AFTER DEADLINE OF SEPTEMBER 30, 2011.
